Ava Kleijman Gallery

Mediterranean Art

Our Concept

Ava Kleijman Gallery situates its work within the context of the growing recognition afforded to Middle Eastern and Mediterranean art. Rich in its own inspirations, landscapes, light, and stories, this artistic momentum opens a window onto a millennia-old and multicultural history.

Beyond walls

The gallery’s guiding principle is to go beyond its ‘walls.’ By investing exceptional locations—whether artists’ studios or unexpected, even whimsical spaces—the gallery transforms each space it inhabits into a suspended site, timeless, where the visitor is no longer a guest but becomes an integral part of the artist’s world.

Building on the success of several years of joyful itinerancy, the gallery settled in Matignon to bring this life to a new space, open year-round and dedicated to contemporary Mediterranean art.

Eager for adventures, the Ava Kleijman Gallery now boasts a site devoted to inspiration, where it radiates between two flights of activity to welcome its collectors, the friends made along the way, and the future friends who will pause for a moment of reflection to contemplate the works on display.

Orli Ziv

Ava Kleijman Gallery is proud to present the visual artist Orli Ziv.

Initially inspired by Art Brut and Naïve Art, Ziv explored the artistic path of pictorialism before increasingly playing with material itself. Day after day, layer after layer, work after work, she gradually distanced herself from her beginnings in favor of an expressionism that became ever more abstract.

Her evolving oeuvre moves and unfolds into opuses rooted in Ziv’s amorous obsession with the universal Jerusalem. The work and the artist merge and blur into one another, ultimately forming a single haunting ode. This work is the story of a life: it is Jerusalem Obsession.

Ava Kleijman was the name of my great-grandmother. An elegant and rebellious woman with the soul of an artist, living in a world of music and beauty, she was also an early member of the Resistance.

Without having known her, I felt a connection to her and her passion for freedom. That must be the reason why I wanted my gallery to bear her name…

As a former singer myself, accustomed to touring, having passed through Zingaro and later known as ‘Rachel des Bois,’ it was my thirst for art and adventure that drove me to change my life and devote it to the visual arts, after falling madly in love with a painting by Orli Ziv in 2020. It was the encounter I needed to transform my passion for art and my knowledge of artistic circles into a gallery that is human, close to its artists, multifaceted, and in many ways, a reflection of myself.
